Aveda Birds of Paradise Review Part 2: Lips

Hope you guys had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday! We spent it with my parents at our family's lake house in southern Virginia and it was just the best, most gorgeous week away with my people. And if you follow me on Insta- you'll also know it was much needed after these last few weeks. More on that soon, friends!

In any case, if you missed part one of my Aveda Birds of Paradise Review, make sure you check it out here! Because today I'm sharing my most favorite part of this collection, the products that literally blew me away, and you guys. These lip colors. I'm dying! I've been dying. And had I not had surgery three weeks ago, I would have shouted my love for them to you even sooner! The lip collection includes two of their Limited Edition Nourish-Mint Smoothing Lip Colors and two Limited Edition Nourish-Mint Rehydrating Lip Glazes. And friends, these lip products are SO perfect for this cooler weather we've been enjoying in north Texas these last few weeks and just gorgeous shades for all of your holiday parties coming up. And if you're still looking for a gift for your girlfriends, your mama, really anyone who loves makeup- these would all make excellent stocking stuffers!

One other thing I love that they did with this collection? They had something for everyone with their lip products. Want a bolder lip? These creamy, high pigment lipsticks are perfect. Want a gorgeous gloss, lip topper and shades with just a hint of color that are perfect for every day or for the office? These lip glazes are the jam. Is that still a thing? #wewillgowithyes

The lipsticks are buttery, opaque, easy to apply, super comfortable, they have a great, fresh minty scent and they do not dry my lips out in the slightest. And probably my favorite thing about these lipsticks? They last through dinner and don't slide all around your mouth--or even worse--give you that dark lipstick rim around your mouth--not at all a cute look for date night.

Here is the red, Poppy Ember. This is my new favorite red in my lipstick collection-- which is saying a lot because I don't have that many, really because it's so hard to find that perfect shade. Red can also be really intimidating to wear! I wore this beauty to dinner with my hubby and then out for drinks with our friends and it was so flattering that even the two other people we were with commented on how much they loved my lip color. It's just that perfect shade. It's a perfect tangerine/coral red with just the right amount of pop & it is brilliantly universally flattering, it makes any evening makeup look absolutely stunning and would be so gorgeous for the holiday parties in your future.

Sangria Bloom and Poppy Ember- both so creamy and dreamy!
How pretty is that lip color? And how cute is the Mr?

Here is the bright, beautiful raspberry shade, Sangria Bloom. Also absolutely stunning! If I'm being totally honest, this one I found wasn't quite as opaque as the red but it was equally as buttery and has a wonderful slip on the lips that made me reach for it again and again ovefr the last few months. And what I love about this one is how buildable it is. Two coats and I was good to go. It's truly a stunning raspberry-plum shade and again, is a gorgeous color for evening, holiday parties or a fun night out. And again- a really fun color to give you a nice, bold lip that's not totally obnoxious. And it feels like heaveeeeeennnn! I just wish I were a liiiiittle more tan to truly feel like I was rocking this color. #hellospraytan But it was such a fun color that I didn't mind the paleness. 😉

Along with the lipsticks are two shades of their nourish-mint lip glazes. I had never tried these before and I am floored. They're incredibly moisturizing and great on top of lipsticks or on their own as a sheer tint of color. One of which, Rose Water, I have used as a topper nearly every single day since September on top of my favorite every day pink/nude shade for a beautiful, glossy finish. Pop it right in the center of the lip and it instantly makes your lips appear fuller and just stunning. I LITERALLY can't get enough of this shade and for me personally--it was the stand out of the entire line. I've traveled with it, it's been in every purse I've carried since I received it, it came to the hospital with me. I. Am. Obsessed.

The other shade, Mulled Plum, is a really pretty, sheer plum color which is beautiful on its own or on top of a plum lipstick. I've tried both ways and I love it on its own. Since I'm so fair, it gives more than a hint of color and is perfect for evening. It was a little dark for my taste but this shade on a deeper skin tone would be absolutely stunning. It feels really great on the lips, they add a little pop of gloss but aren't overly sticky, the formula is amazing and I do feel the slight lip plumping effect and it's actually COMFORTABLE! #canigetanamen That is SO hard to come by! Both of these shades remind me of MAC Lip Glass-- they have the same exact finish, they feel the same and are just so, so great. Can't recommend them enough.

I think it's pretty obvious that the lip products in this collection are a total win in my book. Total. Win. And spoiler alert: without a doubt my favorite gems in the entire line. So if you're in the market for the most buttery, gorgeous holiday lip colors and my favorite lip topper of life- run, don't walk to Aveda and get your hands on my absolute faves. And for all you holiday shoppers (ahem, all of us) all of these lippies would make wonderful gifts for the girlfriends and mamas in your life and such great stocking stuffers! And now I'm TOTALLY eyeing this shade for an easy, every day natural lip!

Happy Friday, friends! Which product are you most excited to try?
